NOTIFICATION
On the recommendations of the Dean’s Committee in its meeting held on 23.07.2024, the Competent Authority has approved the recruitment rules and appointment norms in respect of Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme of IIT Mandi
1.Eligibility
- Ph.D degree holders are eligible to apply within five years after completion of Ph.D.
- Candidates who have submitted their dissertation and are awaiting the final vive voce can also apply.
2. Applications and Selection Process
- Applications will be asked through rolling advertisements. Based on requirements and Director’s approval, applications will be further considered.
- School/Centre level approved committee will shortlist and assess the candidature based on interview and presentation.
- Finally, Institute Level Committee constituted by the Director will submit final recommendation to the Director for the final approval.
3.Job Roles and Responsibilities
- Scientific Advisory and Research Support:
- Provide expert scientific support to researchers, and students.
- Draft flagship research projects (in association with school/centre/research groups) along with sponsored research projects/consultancy in individual capacity (in collaboration with individual faculty)
2. Technology Transfer and Innovation Management:
- Facilitate the transfer of academic innovations into practical applications, emphasizing patenting, copyrights, and technology transfer processes.
- Collaborate with faculty members and research centers to identify opportunities for commercialization and industry partnerships.
- Manage intellectual property portfolios, including patent filings, licensing agreements, and technology commercialization strategies.
3. Collaboration and Outreach:
- Foster collaborations and partnerships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community organizations.
- Represent the institute in scientific conferences, workshops, and networking events to promote collaborative research opportunities.
- Engage in outreach activities to raise awareness of institute capabilities and research expertise, fostering strategic partnerships and funding opportunities.
4. Training and Capacity Building:
- Develop and deliver training programs, workshops, and seminars on scientific methodologies, laboratory techniques, and technology transfer best practices.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students, researchers, and staff members on scientific research, innovation management, and laboratory practices.
- Support the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) initiatives by contributing to the development of vocational training programs and courses aimed at knowledge transfer and skill development.
4.The Postdoctoral Fellow are eligible for the following:

Accommodation |
Suitable Campus accommodation as per IIT Norms will be provided if requested and if available. Or HRA will be paid at the prevailing rates of the fellowship amount for off campus housing. |

Medical Benefits |
A postdoctoral Fellow may avail outpatient facilities in the Institute Health Centre. No Imbursement of cost of medicines in treatment is permissible, any outside referral shall not be reimbursable. The dependant of Postdoctoral Fellow will be eligible for OPD facility at Health Centre & Medicine available at Pharmacy of Health Centre. Dependents for this purpose shall be limited to spouse and maximum two children. |

Leave Rules |
Women Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow are eligible for Maternity Leave subject to the following: A female PDF may be granted maternity leave for a maximum period of 03 months. Leave upto 06 weeks can also be granted for miscarriage including medical termination of pregnancy, if supported by a proper medical certificate. Such leave can be combined with any other leave due and will not entail any loss of financial assistantship. |

5. TERMINATION
If the Post-Doctoral Fellow wishes to leave the programme before the end of the tenure, he/she can do so with prior approval by giving one month’s notice and will automatically stand terminated on completion of tenure. The fellowship may be terminated by the Institute if the performance /conduct of the fellow are unsatisfactory after giving one month’s notice to the Post-Doctoral Fellow.
6. Offices Concerned
Appointment of Institute Postdoctoral Fellows will be handled by DOFA office. After final selection by the standing committee, the invitation letters will be issued by the DOFA office. Once Postdoctoral Fellow joins the Institute, the joining letter will be issued by DOFA office. DOFA office will also handle the personal files and all the matters related to the contingency, accommodation, leave and others, if any.
