On the recommendations of Institute Standing Committee in its meeting held on 25.06.2015, the Chairman, BoG has been pleased to approve the following guidelines for payment of honorarium to faculty, project/institute staff (including outsourced employees) who worked beyond their normal job responsibilities in successful completion of sponsored projects:
- Project Investigator (P.I.) of external funded projects may recommend payment of honorarium to the project and institute staff including outsourced staff from ‘Contingency’ and Misc.’ budget heads of the project.
- The honorarium may be recommended for faculty members other than the PIs/Co-PIs also if there is a budget provision for such honorarium in the project.
- The recommendation of the honorarium should be made only on completion of the project before its financial closure from the unspent balance amount available in the project at the time of its closure.
- The honorarium may also be recommended from the PDF of the project at the end of each financial year.
- The recommendation should be based on the contribution of individual beyond his/her normal responsibilities. It should describe the contributions either in qualitative or quantitative term, amount recommended, and the balance unspent amount available in the project. There should not be any disciplinary proceedings against the individual recommended for honorarium.
- For payment of honorarium to all the staff of different Administrative offices/Schools, the PI may recommend a lump sum amount to be transferred to the concerned Administrative Office/School’s Pool a/c. The same will be disbursed to all the staff in the Section/Office in proportion to be decided by Dean (SRIC) in consultation with the Head of the Section/Office/School.
- The Dean (SRIC) shall be the approving authority for honorarium from project funds.
