On the basis of the recommendations of Institute Standing Committee meeting held on 29th April, 2015, the Chairman BoG has been pleased to approve the following travel entitlement for eligible faculty/staff and students while travelling abroad on official visit;
Entitlement for faculty and staff of the Institute on Foreign Travels:
- Registration fee: Actual registration feesfor Conference/Seminar etc. subject to a maximum of US$-1000.
- Passages: Air fare will be admissible by the economy class by Indian national carrier (Air India). In case of travel by other airlines including foreign airlines in unavoidable circumstances, specific approval from the competent authority of the Institute is mandatory. The Internal travel cost by road or rail/air abroad as may be necessary for official purpose will be reimbursed as per the entitled class.
- Hotel accommodation: Hotel or guest house accommodation with a maximum of US$-200 per night will be admissible in foreign countries. Staying in a hotel suite either within the country or outside will not be admissible.
- Daily Allowance (DA): Daily allowance at the rates of US$-70 per day for visit of SAARC countries and US$-100 per day for other countries for the days of meeting/conference/seminar etc. plus two days each for to and fro travel subject to a maximum of eight days will be admissible subject to the following conditions;
- Where the official is treated as official guest and is provided all meals free of cost, only 25% of the Daily Allowance rates shall be admissible.
- Where the hotel charges include breakfast, the Daily Allowance shall be reduced by 10%.
- Enforced halt: Enforced halt while traveling abroad will be admissible as per the entitlement subject to the approval of the competent authority.
- Incidentals of travel: Incidentals like passenger taxwill be admissible.
- Medical assistance: Reimbursement of medical insurance during the period of travel will be admissible.
Entitlement for students of the Institute on Foreign Travels:
The registered students of the Institute will be entitled for the following financial supports while traveling abroad for attending Conferences/Seminars and academic/research purposes:
- Registration fee: Actual registration fees for Conference/Seminar etc. subject to a maximum of US$-500.
- Passages: Air fare will be admissible by the economy class by Indian national carrier (Air India). In case of travel by other airlines including foreign airlines in unavoidable circumstances, specific approval from the competent authority of the Institute is mandatory.The Internal travel cost by road or rail/air abroad as may be necessary for official purpose will be reimbursed as per the entitled class.
- Hotel accommodation: Hotel or guest house accommodation with a maximum of US$-100 per night will be admissible in foreign countries. Staying in a hotel suite either within the country or outside will not be admissible.

- Enforced halt:Enforced halt while traveling abroad will be admissible as per the entitlement subject to the prior approval of the competent authority.
- Incidentals of travel: Incidentals like passenger taxwill be admissible wherever found necessary.
- Medical assistance: Reimbursement of medical insurance during the period of travel would be admissible.
The above guidelines will also be effective with immediate effect and also be applicable for travel under SRIC projects till new TA Rules are framed for Project staff/funds.
