The Board of Governors in its meeting held on 07.10.2017 has approved vide item no. 19.2.3, the recommendations of the Institute Standing Committee (ISC) regarding Revision of Relocation Allowance to the Faculty/Staff who join IIT Mandi on Regular/ Deputation/Foreign service terms and grant of Transfer TA to the Faculty/Staff who join IIT Mandi on Regular/Deputation /Foreign service  basis from any Government Departments/ Autonomous Organizations, CFTIs, State Universities, PSUs, other such educational Institutions under the control of the Government. The following guidelines have been approved for regulating Relocation Allowance and Transfer Traveling Allowance:-

1. Relocation Allowance for the employees joining afresh:

The Payment of Relocation Allowance would be subject to the following conditions:

a) The Relocation Allowance will be admissible against production of cash memos/receipts (in original) as proof of having performed the journey, transportation   of personal effects, transportation of conveyance.

b) Air travel will be admissible by Air India economy class by shortest route fare only.

c) The faculty/staff member concerned will have to execute a bond that he/she will serve IIT Mandi for a period of at least 03 years failing which relocation    allowance/Transfer TA will  have to be refunded by him/her or would be recovered from his/her terminal benefits.

d) These recommendations will not be applicable to the outsourced employees appointed through Outsourcing Agencies.

e) Employees appointed/engaged on contract on consolidated salary for a period not less than three years will be entitled for Relocation Allowance.

f) The claim for Relocation Allowance should be submitted within one year from the date of performing journey to join the Institute i.e., IIT Mandi.

2.  Transfer Travelling Allowance:

The Transfer TA will be admissible to those faculty members/staff members who join IIT Mandi on deputation/foreign service from any Government department/Autonomous Organizations under the control of the Government (IITs, NITs, Central Universities, State Universities, IIMs, IIITs, IISERs, IISc., ISM, other such educational Institutions/Autonomous undertakings under the control of the Government).

The term, transfer TA will include the following components;

a) Composite Transfer Grant equal to one month’s basic pay (Pay Band plus grade pay plus NPA, if any) if transfer is beyond 20 Kms. and change of residence is involved.

b) Actual fares for self and family for journey by Rail/Steamer/Air provided the members of the family perform the journey not earlier than one month prior to the date of relief at the old station or within six months of his/her taking over charge at the new station.

c) Road mileage for journey by road between places not connected by Rail.

d) Cost of transportation of personal effects from residence to residence.

e) Cost of transportation of conveyance possessed by the employee.

f) The claim for Transfer TA should be submitted within one year from the date of joining the Institute i.e., IIT Mandi.

The admissibility of revised Relocation Allowance/Transfer TA is applicable for transfers/journeys taking place w. e .f. 07.10.2017.
