Notification on Hostel and Campus Closing Times for Residents of Mandi and Kamand Hostels

The following are the changes to the hostel and campus closing times on IIT Mandi’s Kamand and Mandi campuses from the night of 04th September, 2015:

1. Students should be within the campus1 by 10:00 pm each day.
2. The closing time for hostels is relaxed. Thus, students can stay outside the hostel (however, within the campus) for as long as they wish without any hostel closing deadline.
3. For the purpose of attendance in the hostel, students should visit the hostel between 10 pm and 12 am daily and get their attendance recorded in the attendance register. If a student fails to get the attendance recorded between 10 pm and 12 am at the hostel and there is no prior approval taken by the student for the absence, then this situation may invite fines/penalties.
4. If students leave or enter the campus after 10:00 pm, then they need to make an entry for both the out and in time at the security post in front of Director’s office.
5. Students may be allowed an extension to campus closing time as per requirements of work with a prior written approval of the faculty advisor and hostel wardens. Please note that entering the campus after 10:00 pm without a prior approval could invite fines/penalties.
6. Noise-level on campus has to be kept low after 10 pm on all days.
7. Students should carry an Institute-issued Identity Card with them all the time. They should produce this card whenever asked by the Institute authorities/security personnel.
8. Guidelines mentioned above apply for both the boys and girls hostels uniformly.

1 At Kamand, the campus is defined as Institute premises between the badminton court towards the Navlay side and the SBI ATM (Kamand campus) towards the Kataula side. At Mandi, the campus is defined as follows:

Renuka hostel: Institute premises within the main-gate of the Admin block (Mandav Annex).

Dashir hostel: Institute premises within the main-gate of the Academic Block (Paddal Ground).

Beas-Kund hostel: Institute premises within the main-gate of the hostel.
