The rates for hiring of taxis on call for Institute’s work which are to be made applicable from the date of issue are hereby notified as under:-

(IV)For local journeys which can be completed within three hours but upto 30 Kms. (to & fro).	Rs. 432.  Addl. hr. The above rates are inclusive of AC (cooling) charges in hills as well as in plains.  No extra charges will be paid on this account.  AC facility will have to be provided as and when needed.

Terms and conditions 

1.    For journeys other than the local journeys and the journeys to the stations other than    

       the above stations minimum charges for 200 Kms. for small vehicles per day on an

       average and 250 Kms. for large vehicles per day on an average will be paid.  For

       example, if an employee of IIT Mandi hires a taxi for outstation at a distance of 800

       Kms. (to & fro) and stays there for 5 days, the service provider will charge for 1000

       Kms. (5 days x 200 Kms.) in the case of small vehicle and for 1250 Kms.  (5 days x

       250 Kms. : to & fro) in the case of large vehicle.  The aforesaid minimum Kms. will

       not be applicable in the case of local journeys which are completed in one day.

 

2.    For journeys to outstations halting charges @ Rs. 54 per hour (or part) will be paid

       for halting beyond 4 hours subject to maximum of Rs. 216 per day.  No halting

       charges for halt upto 4 hours will be paid.

 

3.    The taxi on call will have to be provided at  Mandi/Kamand as per requirement.

 

4.    The Driver deputed for driving the hired taxi should be sober and in neat/clean uniform.

 

5.    The above rates are final and nothing extra on account of toll tax, other state’s road

        tax, parking charges, service tax, entry tax etc. will be paid.

 

6.    The rates for payment of small vehicles (alto, indica/indigo/desire or equivalent

       vehicles) will be Rs. 9.18 per km. for hilly area and Rs. 8.10 per Km. for plain and   

       that for large vehicles (Tata, Sumo, Qualis, Scorpio, Innova/Xylo or equivalent  

       vehicle) Rs. 11.88 per Km. and Rs. 10.80 per Km. for hilly and plain area  

         respectively for all places other than those mentioned above.

 

7.    If there is a break down of the taxi during the journey(s) or mis-behaviour of the  

       Driver is reported, suitable deduction as penalty will be made from the taxi bill at the

       discretion of the person traveling which will be binding on the taxi operator/ owner.

 

8.    It will be the responsibility of the taxi driver/owner to get the signatures of the person    

       traveling in the vehicle on completion of the journey(s) by getting  the mileage, time

       of start and completion of journey(s) noted on the slip.  The comments of the person    

      using the vehicle regarding the behaviour of the driver may also be got recorded.    

      The signed slip should be attached with the bill for its verification  etc.

 

9.    It has been noticed that sometimes the taxi owner after booking the vehicle for a    

       particular day cancel the same at the eleventh hour.  If the booked vehicle is   

       cancelled  by the owner at an eleventh hour, the difference in charges paid for

       arranging another vehicle will be recovered from the bills of the defaulting taxi

        owner or taxi owner will arrange another vehicle on the same terms & conditions as

       above.

 

10.  The service provider has to provide taxi service to every employee of the Institute on

       the agreed rates, terms and conditions as and when he is requested to provide the

       same on call.  If at any time charging of extra rates/amount is reported, recovery of

       the amount charged extra will be made from the subsequent bills of the service   

       provider.

 

11.  The agreed rates are inclusive of to and fro charges.  The service provider will not

        ask for any extra amount if the user of the hired taxi desires to use the same taxi for

       return journey also or when the IIT Mandi asks for picking up other person/visitor

       from the station of visit or en route.  If at any time extra amount is charged by the

       owner/driver, the same will be recovered from the service provider from his

       subsequent bills.

 

12.  The contracted taxi tariffs will be reviewed periodically. 

 

         The above mentioned rates have the approval of the competent authority.

It may be noted that M/s. Sanjay Tour & Travels, Mandi (Telephone No. 9418400034) has already agreed to provide taxis on call as per terms and conditions mentioned in the notification above.  Faculty/Staff may, however, hire taxi(s) from other Tours & Travel Agencies also subject to the condition that service provider agrees on the rates/conditions mentioned above.   It may also be noted that if somebody hires the taxi at higher rates than fixed, the Institute will make payment/reimbursement by restricting the amount to be computed by applying the above rates.
