                                                                                                           NOTIFICATION

The Senate in its 47th meeting held on September 18, 2025, vide Item No. 47.3.6, has approved the following requirement of M.Tech. /M.Tech (Research) Thesis in case of Upgradation to Dual Degree as well as M.Tech(Research)+ PhD Dual Degree Programme:

1. For Students admitted to the M.Tech. (Research) + Ph.D. Programme:

• The student must submit an M.Tech (R) thesis (evaluated as per O&R of M.Tech (R).
• The content of the M.Tech (R) thesis cannot overlap with the PhD thesis.
• The Viva voce of M.Tech (R) must be completed before submission of the PhD thesis.
• The student must give one open seminar and a synopsis seminar for submission of the MTech (R) synopsis report.
• Furthermore, the student must give one more open seminar and a synopsis seminar for the submission of the PhD synopsis report.

       2. For Students upgraded MTech(Research) to MTech(Research) + Ph.D. Programme:

       Same as the MTech (Research) + PhD Dual Degree Programme.

       3. For Students upgraded MTech to MTech + Ph.D Programme:

• The Students must complete the PGP along with batchmates.
• The content of the PGP cannot overlap with that of the PhD thesis.
• Rationale: If a student exits without completing a PhD, they shall be eligible for the M.Tech degree, having completed all requirements.

The Senate has further approved the reduction of credit requirements from 24 to 15 in the following cases:

1. In case of MTech (Research)+Ph.D. Dual Degree Programme admission.
2. In case of Upgradation from MTech (Research)+Ph.D. Dual Degree.
3. In case of Direct Ph.D. after B.Tech./BE. 

These guidelines shall be applicable from the August–December 2025 (Odd Semester) sessions onwards.
