Reg: Resident warden - Roles and Responsibilities.

The Competent Authority has approved  the roles and responsibilities of Resident Warden, which are as under:

Resident warden: A student from MS by Research, M.Tech. by Research or a Ph.D. who stays* in the hostels and assists hostel wardens in the hostel management.

*The students applying for the positions of Resident Warden for a hostel need to shift to that hostel and reside there (in case they are not residents of the same hostel) till the completion of tenure as Resident Warden.

Selection Process:

The resident warden will be selected through an open call from the existing MS by Research, M.Tech. by research and Ph.D. students.

 Responsibilities of a Resident Warden:

• Assisting Warden/ Assistant warden

• Maintaining discipline in the hostel

• Upholding the hostel code of conduct  

• Maintaining the student record in the hostel

• Making alternate arrangements while being on leave by nominating any other resident student from the hostel on his/her behalf to take care of the hostel

• Any other responsibility as decided by hostel wardens

 Tenure and Reporting:

·       The Resident Warden will report to the Warden.

• The tenure of the Resident Warden will be for a period of one year which will be extendable on recommendation of the Hostel Warden but for not more than a period of six months.

Benefits of being a resident warden:

• Rs 2000/- per month as an honorarium*, after completion of a month

• Rs 2500/- will be waived off from hostel fee per semester. Waive off will be applicable after completion of a semester (provided having worked during two third of the completed semester)

• A single seater room will be provided in the respective hostel till the tenure as resident warden.

• Experience letter for services as Resident Warden will be provided.

*The honorarium will be payable on submission of the “honorarium application” to FAO after recommendation of the hostel warden/ asst. Warden.
