Subject: Guidelines for hosting Ramanujan/Ramalingaswamy/DST Inspire or Equivalent Fellows in the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi
The competent authority has approved the guidelines for hosting Ramanujan/Ramalingaswamy/DST Inspire or Equivalent Fellows in the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi.
(A) Procedure for nomination or selection of Ramanujan, Ramlingaswami and DST Inspire Faculty fellows at IIT Mandi: Applications of a Fellow, willing to work at IIT Mandi, should be reviewed by a standing committee having the following constitution:
Dean (Academics) – Chair
Dean (SRIC)
Chair of the concerned school
Two experts in the area of research
The concerned school chair will propose the technical experts and coordinate the meeting.
(B) Terms and conditions for engaging Fellows
1. Such fellows should be treated as Independent Researchers and the received research grant will be considered as a project fund at IIT Mandi.
2.The fellow may be permitted to participate in teaching and joint supervision of student projects and MS / PhD students.
3.Medical facilities may be availed by the fellows as per the terms and conditions that is applicable to project staff of the Institute.
4. Based on the availability, the fellow may be provided suitable accommodation in the Institute campus against charges as applicable.
5. Car pass and access to other facilities may be provided to such fellows.
6.Leave rules of visiting Research Fellows will be applicable.
7.The fellows are independent to work and spend their research grant according to the guidelines of sponsoring agencies. The institute rules should be followed for purchases from the research grant.
8. Chairperson of any committee, which discusses the academic/administrative policy of the Institute, may invite such fellows for the meeting.
9.Fellow may be allowed to submit project proposals as PI/co-PI, provided the funding agency of the fellow as well as the concerned funding agency from where financial assistance is being sought allows the same.
10.Financial power of the fellows for making purchases from their project(s) / research grant will be limited to Rs. 50,000/- . Dean (SRIC) will be the competent financial authority (CFA) for the purchases upto Rs. 3 Lakhs and the Director will be the CFA beyond Rs. 3 Lakhs.
11.On completing three years, the fellow will be evaluated by an internal review committee for giving feedback on the suitability for a faculty position at IIT Mandi, if the fellow desires so.
12.These guidelines will be applicable to the existing fellows also.
