NOTIFICATION

Subject: Regarding Disbursement of honorarium/stipend/assistantship from a Sponsored Research Project/Seed Grant project/Consultancy/Internal Project.

In supersession of notification no. IITM/DSRIC/02/2017/08-01 dated 04.08.2019, based on the recommendations of the Deans’ Committee the competent authority has approved that Principal Investigator (PI) may be allowed to engage intern(s)/expert(s)/student(s) temporarily to work on Sponsored Research Project/Seed Grant project/Consultancy/Internal Project on a payment basis. PI's may engage such manpower without making an appointment in the project for a period not exceeding three months in a Financial Year. Compensation in the form of honorarium/stipend/ assistantship may be paid from the funds available under the Contingency or Manpower heads only. Principal Investigator (PI) may decide the quantum of compensation, but it should not exceed the salary of corresponding project staff position as prescribed in the SRIC salary scale or the norms of the funding agency, whichever is applicable.
