Title: Notification (Leave Rules for M.Tech./M.S./Ph.D.) students

Approval of Competent Authority if hereby conveyed that the following leave rules for M.Tech./M.S./Ph.D. students receiving HTRA scholarship from the Institute Fund/GATE/CSIR/UGC/DST-inspire/DeitY etc. w.e.f. 01-07-2019 (Odd Semester 2019-20)
- Students should apply individually for the permission with recommendations and reasonable justification by their Faculty Advisor, TA Supervisor, Course co-ordinators and School Chair/s that they shall complete the dissertation requirements with in the given time. However if required they shall be extending their duration of programme as permitted by the provisions of the Institute.
- 08 days Casual Leave and 15 days Vacation Leave in an Academic Year with the approval of the granting authority. However, Vacation leave can be availed only during the declared vacation period of the Institute.
- 30 days Leave on Medical reasons in an Academic Year after due verification/recommendations of Institute Medical Officer. Scholarship during the leave period granted for Medical reasons will be paid at half the rate of entitlement.
- Maximum Half of the Casual/Vacation/Medical Leave entitlement can be availed each semester. However, balance of odd semester (Aug-Dec) can be carried forward to 2nd half i.e. even semester (Feb-Jun).
- Academic year starts 01st July and will end on 30th June each year for the purpose of availing leave during academic year. Leave entitlement will be computed on pro-rata basis accordingly.
- Clubbing of any two different kinds of leave will be permissible subjected to maximum number of all leaves granted in a semester should not exceed four weeks. In case the student is absent on sanctioned leave for more than four weeks in all, Dean (Academics) may decide to convert the leave to a semester break.
- Female Research Scholars may be granted Maternity Leave for a maximum period of 180 days (As per GoI norms) only once during the tenure of their studentship on the recommendations of competent medical authority. Period of maternity Leave granted (maximum 180 days) will be excluded for counting of maximum period for submission of Thesis. However, entitlement of full scholarship will remain limited to 5 years as per Institute norms and will include the period of Maternity Leave so granted. Scholarship will be processed after joining back from the Maternity Leave.
- Male Research Scholars may be granted Paternity Leave for a maximum of 15 days. The request should be supported by a medical certificate and leave will be at a stretch only once during the tenure of their award.
- Prefixing/Suffixing of Saturday/Sunday/Closed holidays will be allowed as per Institute norms.
- The un-availed leave shall not be carried forward to the next academic year and will lapse.
- Encashment of balance leave will not be applicable.
- M.S./Ph.D. scholars who are being funded through the project shall be governed by the “Leave Rules for the Project Staff”.
- Dean (Academics) will have final discretion to relax any of the above norms in case of eventuality.
