NOTIFICATION

                                                                   (Modification in SHSS Course Basket and Minor in Management)

Consequent upon the recommendations of Course Interest Group (CIG) for SHSS courses, the Chairman, Senate has approved the following modifications in the prevailing SHSS Course Basket (http://iitmandi.ac.in/academics/courses/SHSS_Basket_Modified.pdf) and Minor in Management programme:

Modification in SHSS Course Basket:

1. Any course taken in any basket over and above the one HSS course basket requirement course would be considered a free elective course.
2. One-credit towards the Creative Competence basket would be awarded as a result of successful completion of Creative Understanding module of the 5WIP.
3. HS111: Communication and Technology course is removed from the Communicative Competence basket.
4. As HS362: German-III and HS372: German-IV are part of the German Minor. Therefore, removed from the Social Competence basket. 
5. In the Managerial Competence basket, HS450: Financial Management is replaced by HS551: Financial Management.
6. HS510: Essentials of Entrepreneurship is added to the Managerial Competence basket.

Modification in Pre-requisites for the Minor in Management:

    7. IC 210: Probability, Statistics and Random Processes has been replaced by IC252: Data Science-II for the Minor in Management.

Further, it may be noted that:

• Point 1 and 2 would be applicable to all the B.Techs. 2016 batch onwards.
• Point 3 and 4 would be applicable w.e.f. February, 2020 onwards, to all the B.Tech. batches.
• Point 5, HS450 and HS551 are essentially the same course with a number change and scaling up. Both should be considered equivalent. So, anyone who has passed either course till now has completed their Managerial basket requirement.
• Point 6, applicable from February, 2019 onwards for all the batches.
• Point 7, IC 210 and IC252 would be considered equivalent. Whoever has taken either course fulfills the prerequisite for Minor in Management.
