NOTIFICATION

                                                                     (Conversion from M.Tech. program to Ph.D. program)

The Senate in its 15th meeting held on 19th February, 2018 vide item no.15.5 has considered and approved the following rules and regulations for conversion from M.Tech. to Ph.D. Degree Programme.

1. Option to convert will be given any time after the completion of the first two semester and before course add/drop deadline in the fourth semester.
2. Only students with a CGPA of 8 or better are eligible to apply.
3. Only students with no backlogs or incomplete grades are eligible.
4. A formal application with a supporting letter from the Faculty Advisor and Dissertation Advisor (if assigned) must be made.
5. The candidates will appear for a technical interview with a panel of expert nominated and headed by the School Chair.
6. The Doctoral Committee may suggest additional courses to be credited after conversion.
7. The date of start of Ph.D. registration will be from the date of registration of their M.Tech. Program.
8. For those students with a B.Tech. degree, their initial scholarship will be Rs.25,000/- till the Scholar clears the comprehensive examination and get converted from JRF to SRF whichever is earlier.  For the forthcoming period until his/her 5th year of registration the scholarship will be increased to Rs.28000/- (If the rates of Ph.D. Scholarships are revised further by funding agency, the amounts indicated are to be changed accordingly).
9. The date of the Ph.D. scholarship will be counted from the date of conversion.
10. Only one degree i.e. Ph.D. degree will be awarded at the end of the program subject to successful fulfillment of all Ph.D. program requirements.
11. In case the student decides to leave at the end of the second/third year, he/she may be awarded a M.Tech. degree provided all the appropriate credit requirements are completed.
