NOTIFICATION

                                                                       (Modification in Pass/Fail credits)

    (Reference: IITMandi/Acad/Senate/2021/17150-53 dt 01-03-2021 & IITMandi/Acad/Senate/2020/13441-45 dt 28-05-2020)

The Senate in its 33rd meeting held on 10th December, 2021, vide item no. 33.4 approved the following provisions for the inclusion of Pass/Fail credits towards degree requirement:

• B.Tech - maximum 9 credits (FE)
• B.Tech with honors- maximum 9 credits (FE)
• Integrated B.Tech-M.Tech Dual Degree - maximum 12 credits (FE)
• M.Tech/MSc/MA/IPhD - maximum 3 credits (towards DE/ODE/FE)

The above credits under the P/F category shall be optional and any P/F credits taken by students beyond the above prescribed limit will not contribute towards their degree requirements. However, it would reflect on their transcripts. As a consequence of these changes, the semester internship of UG/dual degree students will also count as 9 credits of Free Elective.

The following changes may come into force with immediate effect for all PG and UG students. However UG students of 2018 batch who have already availed 3 credits DE under P/F category, due to earlier notifications, may also be allowed 3 credits of DE + 6 credits of FE under P/F category (as they are already in their final year)

This supersedes all previous notifications related to P/F courses.
