(Ref: Notification No. IITMandi/Acad/Senate/2021/3259-63 dated 17-11-2021)
The Senate in its 33rd meeting held on 10th December, 2021, vide item no. 33.6 approved the following modification in the number of HSS course credits requirements for B.Tech and IDD programmes:
- The number of compulsory HSS credits for a B.Tech/IDD student, in order to meet the requirements for the award of a degree, are reduced from 18 to 13 and the balance 5 credits are converted to Free Elective credits.
- Among the 13 compulsory HSS credits, at least 1 credit should be from the domain of Creative Understanding.
- Overall a B.Tech/IDD student is required to take 13 - 20 HSS credits towards the degree requirements. Any credits above this limit will not count towards degree requirements. However, they will reflect in the student's transcript and CGPA calculation.
- This revised provision would be applicable to B.Tech/IDD students admitted from the year 2020.
