NOTIFICATION

                                                      (Revision of Comprehensive Examination for Ph.D. Programme)

The Senate in its 39th meeting held on 25th April, 2023, vide item no. 39.11 discussed the proposal for revision of Comprehensive Examination in Ph.D. Programme. After detailed discussion, the Senate approved the following:

“The objective of the Comprehensive Examination is to test the general capability of the research scholar and the breadth of their knowledge in their discipline and depth in areas related to their field of research. A School or Center at IIT Mandi can design its own Comprehensive Examination Guidelines with leading participation of the supervisor of the candidate appearing for the comprehensive examination. The guideline for Comprehensive examination prepared by Schools/Centers, and any subsequent modification in the guideline, will be implemented after obtaining approval from the Dean (Academics). The syllabi, dates, duration of examination, etc. must be communicated to the research scholar at least 02 months prior to the date of examination. The School/Centre will communicate the result of Comprehensive Examination of a candidate to the academic office in terms of Pass/Fail.

This is issued with the approval of the Competent Authority and superseded the notification No. F.No. IIT Mandi/Acad/Senate/2023/2085-86 dated 13th July, 2023.
