The Competent Authority on the recommendation of Dean (SRIC) has approved the following Leave Norms for the Project Staff:

Note:

The principal investigator (PI) will have full freedom to decide upon extra leaves sought by the project staff in addition to the above mentioned leaves. All leave records will be maintained by the SRIC office.

Leaves can be availed at any point of time in a calendar year with the permission of the PI.

If medical leave (without pay) exceeds beyond 30 days at a time, such period of absence shall be counted as discontinuation of service and a new incumbent may be inducted in his/her place through the process of selection.

The unavailed annual leave shall not be carried forward to the next calendar year.

Encashment of balance unavailed annual leave shall not be applicable.
2. Maternity leave
Women project staff appointed under selection basis are eligible for maternity leave as per Government of India norms subject to the following:

They should have rendered at least 9 months service prior to proceeding on maternity leave.

The project duration/service after rejoining from maternity leave should not be less than one year.

Maternity leave will be sanctioned on production of necessary medical certificate.

Salary for the maternity leave period will be disbursed only on rejoining from maternity leave.

Under special circumstances maternity leave can be granted to female staff working under short-term engagement basis or appointed through ad-hoc selection process, on the recommendation of the PI.
3. Paternity leave
Paternity leave can be granted to male staff only under special circumstances on the recommendation of the PI.
NOTE: These Rules will be applicable w.e.f. 1st January, 2016 onwards.
