Title: Notification regarding guidelines for HRA (House Rent Allowance) in respect of the scholars getting scholarship through external funding agencies
NOTIFICATION
Approval of the Competent Authority is hereby conveyed for the following guidelines for HRA (House Rent Allowance) in respect of the scholars who are getting scholarship through external funding agencies like UGC/CSIR etc.
- The scholars who are staying outside the campus are entitled for HRA as per the norms of IIT Mandi.
- Scholars staying in any type of bachelor accommodation shall pay hostel charges as applicable as per the institute norms. Single room may be allotted subject to availability. However, this accommodation will not equate with ‘single flat type accommodation’ for HRA entitlement through UGC/CSIR/other external funding agencies etc. They shall be issued with HRA certificate accordingly.
- Scholars may opt for allotment of married scholars apartment subject to availability by paying the rent as per institute norms. However, if the provisions exist, they shall be considered eligible and entitled to draw HRA @ Rs. as applicable as per external funding agencies norms. They shall be issued with HRA certificate accordingly.
- All the scholars who are staying in the institute provided accommodation (either in the hostel room or in the married apartment) have to pay the applicable charges. However, this will not entitle them for any HRA if scholarship is being paid through Institute irrespective of any source of funding. Self-sponsored scholars shall also fall in this category.
- HRA is paid @8% with respect to location of IIT Mandi falling in class ‘C’.
